LGBT Labour has won a top award for ‘Best Community Engagement' at Labour party conference to recognise its work in the European Elections earlier this year.
Each year, Labour's national executive committee gives five awards at Labour conference for the local parties or organisations with the Labour party who have achieved the most in the last year.
LGBT Labour's award recognises its work in the run-up to June's Euro poll with the gay and lesbian community in Soho. It was presented to five members of the LGBT Labour committee by Labour's deputy leader Harriet Harman MP during the opening session of conference.
LGBT Labour co-chair Simon Wright said:
"It is an honour to be recognised by the national party for the work we do. We believe it is vital to keep the LGBT community engaged with the Labour party, and to realise that the hard-won achievements for equality in recent years need to be defended and entrenched in society."
