Several activities have been taking place in Warsaw ahead of Europride in Warsaw where LGBT Labour is ensuring our support and visibility - especially given problems in Poland where Pride events have faced official bans and even violence in past years.
Thursday saw a historic trade union Conference organised by the Polish trade union confederation, OPZZ with speeches of support by Social Democrats in Poland.
Friday saw a Conference held by Rainbow Rose with contributions from different social democratic and labour parties around Europe highlighting the situation for LGBT people including progress on issues such as antidiscrimination measures, same sex marriage (achieved by socialists in Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and Belgium) same sex parenting provisions.
Saturday will see Eurpride itself where we're hoping to see a massive turnout including representatives from European countries, political parties and trade unions. LGBT Labour will be there with our banner demonstrating our support.
UPDATEThe Warsaw Europride was judged to a big success in spite of many far right and homophobic protesters. LGBT Labour were aboard the Social Democratic float along with our sister parties from across Europe. We were proud to be able to lend our support to our sisters and brothers in our sister party in Poland.
