RateMyTory challenges Cameron's candidates on gay rights in wake of Grayling controversy
A new website that aims to profile every Conservative candidate ahead of the election and give them a progressive rating has challenged David Cameron's claims that the Tories have changed and support equal gay rights.
Ratemytory.org.uk launched last week and has already had over 15,000 hits from users seeking to find out what their Tory MP or PPC thinks on issues from gay rights and fox hunting to abortion and climate change.
Chris Grayling may have made the headlines for his homophobic comments, but RateMyTory has highlighted a worrying trend that undermines Cameron's attempts to detoxify the Tory brand. With 60% of the shadow cabinet voting against equal gay rights and various PPCs exposing their own homophobic views in the media, is Grayling just the tip of the iceberg?
The site is calling for readers to contribute information on their local candidate to help accurately profile Tory attitudes on gay rights and other progressive issues.
