Tory Shame in Manchester!

"Tory Shame" - a special event hosted by Amy Lame - is being celebrated by Manchester's LGBT community tonight as the Conservatives come under fire during their annual conference for their stance on gay rights.

The event at Club Alter Ego on Princess Street, organised with support from LGBT Labour, will take place just hours after gay rights group Stonewall pulled out of the first ever Tory Pride event in protest at the Conservatives' alliance with homophobic MEPs in Europe.

Polish MEP Michael Kaminski has been at the Conservative Party conference today, after Tory MEPs voted for him earlier this year to lead their new group in the European Parliament.

One Tory MEP claiming kaminski has had "antisemitic, homophobic and racist links", and a letter from celebrities including Stephen Fry has asked David Cameron to distance himself from his new allies' views.

On Channel 4 News tonight Fry saud Cameron had aligned his party with an "unpleasantly homophobic nationalistic party in Poland."
